The dev just doesn't have multiplayer in mind when coding and desigining this game; it's all about the simulation, and multiplayer would break the hell out of that complicated process. Webimagine the fun with 2 player co-op. This has been iterated over many times in the Steam discussion boards and probably in this sub as well. The devs have heard it all and stand by their vision to keep it a singleplayer game. They have their reasons, and haven't shown any interest in implementing multiplayer. Perhaps a Darkwood 2 could have the monetary support for it, but that would most likely require another Indiegogo or Kickstarter campaign stretch goal.
