Now, select the second partition: select partition 2. Format it in NTFS: format fs=ntfs quick. Assign the Y letter to the second partition with the command: assign letter=Y. Leave DiskPart with the command exit. Web1 May 2024 · After a lot of hemming and hawing, I managed to shrink the C drive by 2GB using diskpart, formatted the newly created partition as FAT32, and used UNetBootIn to put the latest Debian-based Slax 9 distro on it, hoping to boot from it and run it live for a while, just to make sure it would fit my needs, before installing it for good.

So it depends if you actually need that efi partition. Personally I would still try to fix the efi partition, regardless of how the system actually boots.
